The film adaptation of the novel Water For Elephants, by Sara Gruen, set in the world of 1930s circus, is due out on 15th April. It will star Reece Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. I read the book a while back, and certainly enjoyed it. I won’t say it blew my mind, but perhaps the film will help with the slow parts. Here’s the trailer and a few photos from the set, showing that we can expect some 1930s glamour and showgirl glitz in Reece’s wardrobe!
i didn’t love the book, but i’m a sucker for circus stories… so, i’ve been looking forward to seeing the movie out of curiosity – what will they wear, what will the sets look like, etc… 🙂 i think the casting of christoph waltz for the role of august is on the nose – i was so impressed with his “honest malevolence” in inglorious basterds….
Oooooohhhhh! I can’t wait to see this! I really enjoyed the book. I think it had one of the most compelling opening chapter of any book I’ve ever read! I do wonder a bit about the casting here…I pictured Marlena as a brunette, and a bit more exotic/foreign than Reese, who seems so all-american to me. I think Marion Cotillard would have been a better choice!
The 1930’s fashions & sets should be some real eye-candy.
